Welcome to the second edition of our monthly newsletter from Invitation to Health by Mounties Care!

We’re so glad to have you with us as we continue building a supportive community focused on better health, wellbeing, and preventative care on the Central Coast. Based in Wyoming, our team is passionate about helping locals stay informed, active, and empowered when it comes to their health.

Dr Andrew Kwong


Congratulations to Invitation to Health’s Dr Andrew Kwong on receiving an OAM for service to general practice medicine. Originally from China, Kr Kwong became a GP in 1979. He has been at the forefront of building a medical community on the Central Coast.

In 1985 he founded the Gosford GP After-Hours Cooperative, and was Chair of the co-operative from 1985 until 1994. He was a founding member of the Central Coast Division of General Practitioners, serving on its executive until 2000 and that same year, he also founded the Central Coast Medical Association and was its chair from 2005 until 2016. In 1993, he was also a co-founder of the Yerin Eleanor Duncan Aboriginal Health Centre. Within the RACGP, Dr Kwong is a Life Fellow, was a Faculty Board Member and Fellowship Examiner in NSW in the early 1990s, and from the mid-1980s until 2018 was also a GP educator and supervisor. Dr Kwong is also a keen writer of short stories. In 2021, his memoir of his traumatic early childhood in China, and move to a new life in Australia, One Bright Moon, earned him the Michael Crouch Award for a Debut Work in the State Library of NSW’s National Biography Award.

Join our 6 Week Diabetes Education Program starting 17th March

Led by Dr Megan Fabbro, an Accredited Practising Dietitian.

 

This small group program is designed to help you understand diabetes, make practical food choices and build long term habits that support your wellbeing.

What you’ll gain:

  • Clear, practical nutrition guidance

  • Confidence reading food labels and planning meals

  • Strategies for eating out without stress

  • Understanding what alters your blood glucose levels and how to manage them

  • Personalised action plans you can stick to

 

Time: Tuesdays at 9.30am

Cost: $30 pr session ($180 for 6 sessions)

Melanoma March


Australia has the highest melanoma rates in the world. Melanoma is the most common cancer affecting 20-39 year old Australians and one Aussie is diagnosed with the disease every 30 minutes. 


In recognition, we will be offering bulk billed skin checks on Friday 20th March with Dr Milan Dolezal. These appointments are normally $100 so get in quickly and book.






Seniors Movement Class – Stay Steady, Stay Strong


Are you wanting to move with more confidence?

Our seniors movement classes are back by popular demand at 11.30am for 30 minutes on Tuesdays.


  • Improve flexibility and joint movement

  • Build strength and stability

  • Reduce risk of falls

  • Boost confidence with everyday activities

  • Social, friendly and welcoming group setting

  • 1130 Tuesday Seniors movement

  • Strengthen the body with low impact movement

 

$65 for block of 6 weeks

  • Up to 4 bulk billed appointments every 12 months
