September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month

Look after your health. Know your numbers.

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month – an important opportunity for men to prioritise their prostate health and have a conversation with their doctor.

1 in 5 Australian men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime. Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer in Australia, however early detection can make a significant difference to treatment options and outcomes.

Currently only 36% of prostate cancers are detected at Stage 1, when survival rates are highest. This is why regular screening and talking to your doctor about your individual risk is so important.

Who should be screened?

We encourage all men over 50 to discuss prostate cancer screening with their doctor and consider annual screening.

Bulk Billed Prostate Consults in September with Dr Milan

To support Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, Dr Milan will be offering bulk billed prostate consultations throughout September.

If you are due for a prostate check or have been putting it off, now is a great time to make an appointment.

Please call our reception team on (02) 4322 0700 to book your bulk billed prostate consultation with Dr Milan.

Do you have a Chronic Health Condition?

You May Be Eligible for Bulk Billed appointments every three months.

If you live with an ongoing  health condition such as diabetes, heart disease, asthma, arthritis or another chronic condition, you may be eligible for a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan..

A Care plan helps you and your doctor create a structured approach to managing your health. It can identify your health goals, outline the care and treatment you need, and coordinate support from other health professionals such as exercise physiologists, podiatrists, dietitians.

Eligible patients can have a bulk billed care plan review every 3 months!
Think you might be eligible?

Talk to your doctor at your next appointment. They can assess your individual circumstances and let you know whether a care plan is appropriate for you.
